When the electrical panel is switched on, the machine starts up, loading water until the storage tank is full (about 450 liters) and heating this water until it reaches the set temperature. If the bins to be washed contain greasy substances, the machine will be fitted with a control unit that automatically adds a special degreasing and polishing detergent to the washing water.

Heating is carried out by direct injection of low pressure steam by means of a silenced stainless steel mixing nozzle. The washing water temperature can be programmed to reach up to 70° C.

At the end of these operations, the control panel and the stack lights signal that the machine is ready to start the washing cycles.

After deactivating the gate electric lock to access the loading area, the operator places the bin to be washed on the loading forks, then closes the protection gate and activates the start button.

The machine opens the loading door in the washing cabin; the dirty bin will be rotated by 180° inside the machine and placed in the correct washing position.

The cabin entrance door closes hermetically and starts the washing cycle with recirculation of hot water in the storage tank.

The recirculating washing water is filtered by special filters that can be easily cleaned by the operator.

The seals on the entrance are 'labyrinth-type' seals, which perfectly prevent any type of leakage.

The bins are washed by means of two slip rings; one is located in the upper part of the cabin for external washing and the other one in the lower part for internal washing. The rotation of the slip rings is driven by a special gear motor.

Each ring is divided into two separate circuits with their own washing and rinsing nozzles, so as to avoid contamination.

The washing cycle has a programmable duration and is carried out employing recirculating water from the underlying storage tank  integrated into the bottom of the cabin.

At the end of the programmed washing time, the machine starts the rinse cycle with hot running water, which is discharged into the sewers as it flows out of the storage tank.

Rinsing is carried out employing clean water from an external circuit by means of a pump at a minimum pressure of 3 bar.

The rinsing water is waste water, as it overflows the storage tank.

At the end of the rinse cycle, the rings are fed using 2-bar pressure steam (~ 134° C) coming from the steam feeding group, in order to perform the final sterilization of the cleaned bin before unloading for reuse.

The Siemens PLC that is installed on the electrical control panel works in "auto" or "manual" mode and monitors all cycle times, the position of the valves of the hydraulic and steam circuits, as well as the temperature of the washing water. All the above-mentioned parameters can be programmed by the operator using a "touch screen" panel.

Before unloading the clean bin, the fan located on the machine roof is briefly activated in order to eliminate the humid mist that usually forms inside the washing cabin and to prevent contamination of the environment when the unloading door is opened.

The clean and sanitized bin is unloaded at the end of the cycles described above:

  • The machine opens the door to the loading unit and rotates the forks by 180° to extract the perfectly clean and sanitized bin from the washing cabin;

  • The operator removes the bin manually, after activating the opening of the gate to access the unloading area;

  • After completing the three cycles (normally performed in 3 <4 minutes) the machine is ready to wash a new bin.
